Hyme Energy and Semco Maritime have signed a new partnership agreement to deploy together Hyme’s thermal energy storage (TES) plants in Denmark and other countries from Northern Europe. Ask Emil Løvschall-Jensen, CEO and co-founder of Hyme Energy, and Anders Benfeldt, Senior Vice President, Transitional Energies at Semco Maritime, have officially formalised this partnership.
The partnership builds on extensive collaboration between the companies since 2023 on Hyme Energy’s industrial-scale demonstrator plant in Esbjerg, Denmark. In this project, Semco Maritime serves as the EPC contractor and host of the world's first thermal energy storage utilising molten hydroxides. During the operation period in Esbjerg, Hyme Energy’s unique storage technology will be fully proven.
The new partnership strengthens the existing collaboration, which aims to provide an attractive offering for industrial companies seeking to replace their fossil fuels with a cost-effective and green solution.
“At Hyme Energy, we are proud to be able to expand our partnership with Semco Maritime,” says Ask Emil Løvschall-Jensen, CEO and co-founder of Hyme Energy. “As we continue our product development, the partnership establishes a strong execution ability, so we can bring our plants to our industrial customers on time and on cost.”
“We are bringing decades of experience and Semco Maritime’s unique execution power into play in this new partnership to support the green transition. Hyme Energy’s technology shows great promise, and our partnership will enable us to create value for a new customer group and build our businesses together,” says Anders Benfeldt, Senior Vice President of Semco Maritime.
As part of the partnership, Hyme Energy and Semco Maritime have started working on maturing the first large-scale projects in Denmark. The collaboration promises to make green, reliable, and cost-effective industrial heat more feasible than ever before.
